driveshaft help
driveshaft help
So I swapped my 305/700r4 for a 350/th350 with the shorter tailshaft. The engine/trans are in. I just have a couple questions.
1. Is the driveshaft for the th350 the same length as the driveshaft for a th200?
2. Is there another vehicle with a driveshaft that I can use for the camaro?
3. If the answer to question 1 is yes, where can I find such a driveshaft, save the junkyard?
Any answers would be appreciated.
Also, it's an 83 z28, if it matters.

Re: driveshaft help
The 700R4 and the long tailshaft TH350 can use the same length driveshaft. A short tailshaft TH350 needs the longer driveshaft from a 82-83 third gen that came with the 200c 3 speed transmission.
It's unlikely you'll find another junkyard driveshaft from something else that's close enough to the same length. You can always take your driveshaft to a driveline shop and have it lengthened.
Since your engine and tranny are already in, get a custom length made. Take the slip yoke off the driveshaft and slide it all the way into the transmission then pull it back out one inch. Measure from the center of the u-joint cup on the slip yoke to the center of the yoke on the diff. That's the driveshaft length required.
