ZZ4 Rebuild

I noticed that there have been a lot of ZZ4 Swaps. I am not asking about how to do the swap but more so of where on summitracing or any where to look for the correct rebuild kit.

Re: ZZ4 Rebuild

It depends on what all is in the ZZ4.
GM did switch some minor parts every now and then.
What is wrong with the motor?

I bought the motor already tore apart. The guy told me it was a ZZ4 and picked it up for a $100. I ran the numbers, and it said it could be a zz4 but also can be a truck motor. It didnt come with any heads. I guess my title should have been which motor do I have because If i am correct the two possible blocks it could be both have different rebuild kits.
It is a 2 Bolt Main cap if that helps

The block number is 10243880
camshaft number is
1264

Re: ZZ4 Rebuild

That's a Vortec roller block. Other than the 1 pc. rms related parts, it's pretty much your choice.

And, you'll need to know if it's been bored, crank turned, etc.

So this is a GM Gen-I Crate motor from 1995-2000. I am confused when you say other than the 1pc. rms related parts. Do you mean that it is the same as the ZZ4 with the exception of the rear main seal.

Re: ZZ4 Rebuild

Could be a truck block or a ZZ4/crate motor block. They're all 1 pc. rms. So, your crank, rms, flex plate/flywheel and pan gasket all have to be for a "roller" block. Beyond that, it's all a matter of choice/budget. There's people on here a lot smarter than me, so try a search.

What it "used" to be has very little bearing on what it is "going" to be, especially if it needs boring and new pistons
It will take any SBC parts you wish or can afford to put in it taking into consideration as noted
it is a late model block with a 1 pce crank and OEM roller cam

ZZ4 used the 4 bolt version of your 1 pce block with a better crank ,alum heads, different pistons and a ZZ4 cam.

Block casting #10243880 350...95-00...2 or 4 bolt...
roller cam, one piece rear seal.
Vortec truck/Van Gen.I crate motors and GMPP ZZ4

Then it wasn't a ZZ4. They all had 4-bolt main caps.

That's all you really need to know to get the rebuild kit. New pistons, bearings, etc., will pretty much replace anything that was unique about the ZZ4 as far as the kit goes.
