swap 5.0tbi to a 5.7 vortec

I was thinking of swapping a 5.7 vortec out of a 1999 tahoe taking computer and wiring out, for the obdII connection for ease of diagnostic help. but was wondering it has a 4L60E transmission which i think would be nice to change shift parameters but it is 4wd and was wondering would it really be worth looking for a 2wd version or just keep a 700r4 in it.

the swap will be getting done with a 1991 rs camaro with a 5.0 tbi.

Just thought it would be a good little project

Vortec 350 TBI swap is the subject of a sticky on the TBI forum.

The Vortec induction system is not performance-friendly.

Forgot to mention: Since the 4L60E is 4WD, it isn't a good candidate to swap into a 3rd gen.

Ya, i know since it is setup for 4wd at the moment i can't use it. i wasn't sure if i should look at a 2wd model or convert this one that's all. i have a 700r4 in it right now. was just looking into different options. thnxs

Why dont you put the tbi on the 350 vortec? Its been done a 100 times on here.

The TH700 would be an easy mate with TBI. If you go with the 4L60E & TBI, you're going to have to get a separate transmissino controller. You could put the Vortec induction on it and use the PCM with a 4L60E, but as one member puts it, that's a lot of maze for very little cheese.

Exactly. That's what the sticky describes.

ya, i know. like you said it's been done a 100 times. i'm not in any rush, thought it would be a cool swap and nothing but time on my side. but don't get the wrong idea if it gets to be to frustrating i will go the easy way out like everybody else. not saying there is anything wrong with it, but i do like a challenge and have time on my side. so anybody with any helpful posts would always be welcomed.
