Even bigger price difference @ Pace Performance
$1930 http://paceperformance.com/i-6484922...-4-ton-up.html vs $2990 http://paceperformance.com/i-6255511...te-engine.html
For me the $1K difference between the two would have me buying the L31 and using the savings to pay for ta roller cam of my choice and a new intake;
maybe something left over for some bling
NB; pretty engines don't make any more Hp ; people just expect them to

Re: Which 350
The motor is a 99 Vortec and I am not sure if it is a roller or not. There is no gerdal to hold the lifters. Can it be a roller? I have checked the numbers and it is a Vortec. Could the guy I got it from just put in a flat tappit cam in it? I don't have roller rockers that is yet. I am going to buy the ones with a 1.6 ratio. What are the stud 3/8s or 7/16s?

Either way, you've got the good heads. If you want to convert it to a roller cam you can do it for between $600 and $1200.

Re: Which 350
Well with the help of everyone here and the internet I found out several things about the motor. It is just a 330 horse Vortec headed (but the numbers are rite for the block too) crate motor bought from probably Summitt. Any how I got a great deal. I have been selling all the carb parts off of it and when it's all done I'll recoup 90% of my money.
I bought a GM Performance smog intake off eBay. I am going to put cop car injectors in. and I know I said I wasn't going to do it but I'm putting smog headers on it and upgrading my exhaust. Since it's on an engine stand Is there anything else I could be doing to make it more of a screamer? Should I up grade the ignition? Should I upgrade the oil pump? I was going to put roller rockers on it would I be wasting my money? What size are the studs? 7/16s or 3/8s.
Knowing what you all know can you recommend a plug? What about oil? The engine has about 6k miles on it so I don't need to break it in. Should I get a high volume water pump? Should I buy a new dist. Mine has 164k on it? I just tuned it up and it is running great so my dist to me seems great. What about the sensors? All the ones the screw into the block. I am going to buy a new knock sensor so the 350 will work.
I am so excited about this swap. Now on to basic engine 101. I am embarrassed to ask but here it goes. Which way does the dist go. All I've worked on in the past 10 years has been an Olds 455 so I have forgot chevys.

Re: Which 350
another quick question. What is the torque sequence and torque for a Vortec intake.
