L98 Rebuild....???
I figuered this was the place to come for the most accurate info regarding Camaros.....
Background... recently picked up an 86' K5 Blazer with what I was told was a 5.7L 350 (L98?) out of a 92' IROC. I have yet been able to confirm that by locating a casting # on the block. Ive looked everywhere!
Actual mileage on the truck, unknown. Motor, unknown as well. Motor is mated to a 700R4.
Im getting some blow by out of the dip stick. Thinking its time for a rebuild. Id rather just install a new long block.
Any ides or sources that you Third Gen guys use for motors/blocks? I dont want to half *** this, but at the same time a full swap is not fiscally possible.
Ideas for upgrades to increase HP/TQ increase longevity/durability?
K5 is full size Chevy Blazer, 6" lift, 35" tires, 4X4 (NP208) Corp 10 bolt F/R.
3.73 gears, going to 4.56 while this project is underway.
