v6 to 350 swap...help
ok to start off i am new. I have never tried to swap a motor and need a lil help. i have read alot of that stuff that i have found on this site that really confused me. I am not mechically inclined at all but i wam what to make this car run so that i can scratch it off of my bucket list.
I am going to drop a carbed stock 350 (not modified at all) in my 92 firebird. I know that there has been alot of discussion about the t-5 tranny but at this time i cant see changeing it out untill i mess it. i already have the bell housing that will fit both motor and tranny i just know know what other parts that i will need to make this work. i wouldnt be asking on here but where i live it seems like that people want to charge you just for asking question. Picture of thing would help me alot just so i know what people are talking about.

Welcome aboard thirdgen.org.
The V6 T5 is not the same thing as a V8 T5. The V6 T5 has a smaller input shaft, which means two things: The V8 clutch disk won't work; and, the V6 T5 is much weaker than the V8 T5 (which has its own reputation for being weak).
But, you aren't blazing a new trail here. Several people have gone ahead and put a V8 in front of the V6 T5. What you will need to do is get a 153-tooth flywheel for the 350 - if the 350 is '85 or older, you need a flywheel for an '84-'85 f-body V8 application; if the 350 is '86 or newer, you need a flywheel for an '86-'92 f-body V8 application. The clutch pressure plate is the same for all '84-'92 f-body manual transmission applications.
Now you need a clutch disk for an S10 4.3 V6 application (not sure of the year range, maybe someone can chime in). It will have the same input shaft spline size as the V6 T5, and close to the same diameter as the V8 clutch pressure plate (10" vs. 10.5" - close enough).
Everything else is the same as a V6 to V8 swap, and EFI to carb conversion.
When you get it running, you will need to drive the car like it still has a V6 in it, or you'll grenade the tranny. Or, find a V8 T5 now, get all V8 3rd gen f-body clutch parts, and drive it like a V8 (of course, the factory never put a T5 behind a 350...).

Since I am putting a carbed motor in I need to drop the gas tank and take off the fuel pump and extend the pick-up in the tank right. Next do I still need the pump. Also where would I put the fuel regulator.

Seecond option is to leave the factory in-tank pump and install a fuel pressure regulator somewhere in the engine compartment before the carb. You will need one with a return port.
As mentioned in the V6 to V8 swap threads the motor mounts will need to be moved on the crossmember from the back holes to the front holes with a rerouting of the brake lines.
