3.8 liter turbo Buick motor swap.
I own a 91 Trans am with a 305. Im building a 350 (383) and all that good stuff. here is the deal. IM BORED with the usual V8 crap. everyone is building a bigger V8 than the other guy for their camaro or firebird with a 700r4 or th350 a hugh cam and 3.73 gears. I want something different.
What do you guys know and/or think about a modified 3.8 turbo buick bolted to my 700r4 and 373 gears?
I know poniac did this at one time, plus the GN and the TA weigh about the same.

It's discussed from time to time. Often enough that it's covered in a tech article on the home page.
The 3.8 won't bolt to your TH700.
There are enough differences between the GN and TTA engine compartments to drive significant differences between the GN & TTA engines.
Search, & check out the tech article.

you could always get an L67 long block, put on an f-body intake manifold, and get a turbo kit or s/c kit installed. Still have to use either the V6 auto or manual tranny. Use the slanted upper intake manifold design, as it will clear the stock hood.

Actually I believe there is an adaptor to make the 3.8 turbo motor work with the 700R4 transmission. Some people who have done the swap have actually claimed their cars ran faster with the 700 transmission than with the 200.

Re: 1992 3.8 liter Buick motor swap.
The engine in your Park Avenue is a 3800, not a 3.8.
They are NOT the same engine. Very similar, but not the same engine.
More research required.

Re: 1992 3.8 liter Buick motor swap.
The 3800 in the Buick should also be a front wheel drive engine and would not have provisions for the side motor mounts. I actually have a 3800 sitting in my shop now from a 92 60,000 mile car.

Re: 3.8 liter turbo Buick motor swap.
The 3800 is NOT a FWD-only engine. The 3800 also came in the '95-'02 4th-Gen F-body's. Both the FWD and RWD engines should have provisions on the sides of the block for mounts. Also, the same family of motor has also been used in Holden's, in a RWD configuration, since 1988.
