In my opinion you are asking for trouble getting anything like that off ebay. You can get a gm short block l98 replacement from gm and this will give you exactly what you have now just bolt your stuff on. I think it retails for around 1300 or so. Another route is use a REPUTABLE engine builder. I stress that. I used a shop in ca for my tahoe 383. L&R engine ask for Derek. Tell him Darren from MA refered you. It cost me out of pocket around 5. Now this is a 383 9.7-1 compression afr heads and xfi 268 cam. Put down 430hp and 480ftlbs. He specilizes in 396 strokers. That is a good route if your looking to upgrade. He is very resonable and does alot with the magazines for there build and deals alot with westec out there. Dont buy anything off ebay like that you are asking for headaches. Use someone who is familiar with efi and tpi in general. You can get a short block 396 for under 3 from L&R im huessing if you plan to use all your stuff you have now. He sells the 383 long blocks with vortec iron heads for right around 3 but you already have your trick flows. Dont know who you have local but I would try that route first. Speak to racers and guys at the track and see who does quality work. Just ask yourself do you want to do this once or a couple of times. Hope this helps, lmk if you need more info.

Your prob right around 425 to the crank now. So to that 500 your gonna need cubes if you keep your current stuff. 406 is ideal but i wouldnt do it with a factory block. Now your looking at a dart block and this is where the money starts pouring out of your pocket for that build. Best scenerio use your block and stroke it to 396. Get your heads ported and you should be right where you want to be.

That sounds pretty close, I have 309rwhp & 313rwtq
I've heard so much better stuff about those AFR Heads, maybe worth an investment. I suspect my trickflows TFS.31500002 have a 1204 port. I have a 1205 gasket over the intake ports and it doesn't match. Ports appear to be smaller. And they already looked polished, from the previous owner. I'll try to get some pics....
That sounds like a route i'll pursue, talk to a local builder to see what can be done with my block.
