What are my options? 350 that will work with 87 TPI ECM

Searched a little but didn't find anything that put me on the right foot. I've got a 87 GTA with the 5.7 TPI. It's developed a rod knock and I'm in need of a quick replacement. I plan on taking the one out now and putting it on a stand, rebuilding it and putting it back in. However, in the meantime I need something I can drop in for now.

From my understanding, it has to be something already roller TPI correct? Given the ECM and cam would have to like each other, or is that wrong? I know the certain years camaros, firebirds, and corvettes that had it but I saw something about truck engines as well?

I'd be using my intake, runners, heads, all that stuff. Just need a short block I suppose. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks.

ECM has no idea what engine is under the TPI
Might be minor differences but doubt you will have problems with any >'80 production 350 with a factory cam ( and your MAF setup can reasonably " self tune" for minor airflow differences from a different cam

Bigger problem for you is whether your heads ( chamber size ) will give correct CR with another shortblock; possibly a long block might be a better option?

'96 -'00 truck Vortec engines have roller cams from the factory
