Difference between 305 and 350?

Ok I know basically everything is the same. Same stroke just bigger pistons. What is the difference on the outside of the engine. Like are the engine mounts the same? Same position? Are the heads the same? Will my exhaust fit or will I have to modify it? Stuff like that. Thanks

Externally, all SBC blocks are the same size. Looking at one under the hood of a car, and you won't know if it was a 265 or a 400.

Check the casting numbers. There are no other ways to tell.

Casting numbers are the best way. The newer blocks also have 5.0L and 5.7L cast into them.

How is that going to help him?
The PO may have been just as ignorant as to what engine he had in the car when he sold it.
