Swapping Iroc motor in, question about ECM

I have a line on a low mileage Iroc motor. I have a two door Caprice and I'm looking to install this to replace my dead 305. My question is, how big of a deal is this to do was far as the ECM and wiring goes? Would it be too much of a hassle to bother with?

Re: Swapping Iroc motor in, question about ECM

Put your TBI intake and all that on the IROC motor. Basically, whatever is different between the 2, take off your B body motor and put on the F body one. No other considerations should be required.

Actually I have the Q-jet on this one. I'm thinking it would be easier to just get an older non-ECM motor and swap it in.

So put your carb ,intake and dist on your new engine
The motor doesn't know or care ( within reason) how it gets fuel and spark

Precisely.

Whatever is is different between the 2, take off your B body motor and put on the F body one. No other considerations should be required.

Is there an echo in here?

If you can get the iroc engine complete with tpi, harness, ecm etc then it wouldnt be an unreasonable amount of trouble to do the swap with the efi in tact.

From what I understand, IROC is a trim package. The Motor shouldn't be any different.
