Sorry for posting this without reading the stickies but I only have have to act fast. I have a chance to grab a low milage zz 383 crate eng I want to use in my 89 iroc ragtop it has a t-56 in it with the stock lb9. Is this going to work with this trans and can I make a carb eng work in this car I had just started reading the tpi to carb thread tonight fricken figures again sorry for asking for spoon feeding. Guess the question is do I buy this motor or wait for an easier swap

 

A 383 is just another SBC , have same problems fitting it as a another 305
Just make sure it has the same bolt holes on the front of the heads for the accessory drive as your existing engine ( new holes can be drilled )

Can make a carb engine work in any car with the right parts

Thanks for replying I have to meet the guy this morning so I will buy it I have all winter to do the install as the car is stilll in the bodyshop, time to read and read untill my eye bleed LOL

good luck with the swap im still doing my TPI to carb swap and its a pain just make sure if u go the regulator route get a good one not a mallory
