A little direction
A little direction
So I bought an 85 black on black z-28. The interior has been completely restored, it's been lowered 1 1/2" or so. Not a bad start for 700$
The timing chain had jumped, lots of broken manifold bolts, bad carb... The list goes on and on. I got it running fine now.
I cant decide what direction to go with it. Either:
Rebuild it and supercharge it or swap in an ls1 or an LQ4 with L92 heads
Is an LQ4 to heavy ?
How would a Supercharged 305 compare with a stock ls1?
I want a mean daily driver not just a rocket.... A freaking fighter jet lol

Re: A little direction
Did some research. supercharged 305 is out, alot of work not enough gain.
I think I'm going to go with the LQ4 Car Craft magazine did a quick budget build and got close to 500hp with GM cam, l92 heads, headers. I may be driving the Donner lol.
Is it worth keeping FI, I'm not afraid of rewiring

It has become a very popular swap. The LQ4 weighs less than the original 305.
A supercharged 305 may be able to make more power than a stock LS1, but I'll bet you dollars to donuts the LS1 will get better fuel economy, and last longer. By the time you do all of the things you should do for a supercharged 305, plus buy and install the supercharger, you'll have spent as much as you would on an LS1 swap.
A stock LS1 can make a mean daily driver. Ask me how I know...
FI is the only way to go for a DD, IMO.
