Re: 305 TBI to 403 olds

Ok guys question again so my 91 has the smog controll with the lines coming out of my manifolds and it has 2 little plugs/sensors on the box under the cover, I unhooked those last night and my car ran no differently and did not throw a code, am I ok to run headers and delete that smog box? Egr will be left alone, I was told by unhooking those my car would rough idle but its running just fine without them hooked up. Should I be fine to take off those manifolds and delete that smog box and run headers?

It will run fine if you remove the lines and the Air Pump.

It will not be legal as far a federal emissions are concerned though.

Re: 305 TBI to 403 olds

hey guys so my 91 rs has the smog control with the black box that has 2 sensors on it and all those lines running out of the manifolds over to that black box or charcoal if thats what its called, i am wanting to run headers, but i heard that by deleting that box and those plugs or sensors if you will, it will make my car rough idle and cut out, well i unplugged them last night and it ran just fine, no change at all, so am i ok to take those manifolds off and take that smog box off and run headers?

Yes you have to have headers for an 82-92 F body. Other headers will NOT fit.

Re: 305 TBI to 403 olds

as ive been looking for headers. none of the headers are specific for camaro, they say will fit 1991 rs 305 camaro but are also compatible for like trucks and other cars and look no different than the headers i planned to buy from my friend

Then you are looking a t the wrong headers, or its a stock image. "item nay differ from Pic"

Go to the exhaust forum and read up.

Truck headers will not fit our cars.
