88 Base with a 2.8L. Dropping a 350 in it.

Im looking into putting a 350 into my 88 Camaro. Ive heard that they crack the t-roofs. Anyone else have any light on that?

Also, I wanted to know the level of difficulty on the electrical portion of the swap. Harness swap? ECU swap? Any tips?

Re: 88 Base with a 2.8L. Dropping a 350 in it.

well I really don't know. but I belive that all Third Gens are built equal in terms of structure so the car you have shoul be the same than my GTA that has the 350 in it.

That bean said all Third gens have a body that flex a lot and need to be reinforce with subframe connectors to handle better. I have never seen TTops craked just by the force of the engine and if they have that have to be a Hily modify engine.

So go aged and do the swap. so for the computer I dont know much about swaps but I belive you will need a complette Harness with the computer and if the instrument pannels don't work you will need to replace them as well.

All F-bodies flex and I have seen hard tops get a crack in the roof right behind the side windows. Really a good set of sub frame conectors will do the trick for flex.

Since you new to the boards ill give you this one but around here we like to stick to the method.

Check this thread out for a detailed explanation on swapping a v6 to a v8

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/engi...swap-read.html

and as for the flexing just like the other members said SFC's will take care of it..

Welcome to the boards and have fun.

Don't worry about cracking around the t tops! I've ran my car for yrs without a cage or connectors with a 1.60-1.49 60 ft.
Have a cage and connectors now though.
