I had those on my motor for a bit, then I realized my block was decked. Thankfully I caught that little mix up early and it only cost me another set of head gaskets.

originally I had 1.6's to put on a stock LT1 cam to pick it up a little then i decided to go with the alexs parts springs which only cleared to .550 lift and this cam with 1.6 rockers was slightly over that(dont remember exact numbers) hopefully I see low 12's atleast that way I can justify the amount of time and money ive put into this

Re: Vortec Stealth Ram 383 (Formerly Ported TPI)
yeah Ive been spit balling it...heres what Ive been thinking about these last few days. Im thinking about ditching these vortec heads and rockers. and possibly picking up a set of aftermarket heads and 1.6-1.7 rockers to bring my lift up. picking up a non vortec stealth ram. ditching the 24lbs/hr SVO injectors and getting some 30lbs/hr Venom injectors. and ditching the torque converter for a 2800-3200 as mentioned ?
I mean i have a means of transportation for now. so im not pressed to have my car back so Im leaning towards just taking more time and building a monster street/strip daily driver.

well if you already have the intake you could do what I did and get the AFR 912s I also have some 30# injectors for sale, but you may need more than 30#. I'm up to 36 myself

Re: Vortec Stealth Ram 383 (Formerly Ported TPI)
Honestly, what do you want to do with the car? If you put together what you have now it would be pretty stout. If you play the "well I could upgrade this" game you run the risk of the never ending project. (now I have better heads with better springs, i could run a more aggressive lobe profile cam, etc...) If you put together what you have and then want some more down the line there is always NO2

Re: Vortec Stealth Ram 383 (Formerly Ported TPI)
but Honestly I dont want to finish the build and say " I wish I would have done this or that" thats why Ive taken my time up to this point. I think with the stealth ram a set of World products Sportsman II iron heads, and 1.6 rockers it would SCREAM...and yes I have been tossing around the idea of spray. I like the idea of instant power at my disposal. Muahahahahahaha lol

Re: Vortec Stealth Ram 383 (Formerly Ported TPI)
Thank you! I couldnt find the price of the heads to save my life. lol
well looking at those numbers, the reviews and the price kinda hard not to lean towards those EQ's. now that leaves me with the question. do you think the 220cc intake 64cc combustion chamber heads with a set of 1.6 rockers would be overkill? Im kinda digging that combo. with 1.6 rockers ill be at .549 int .565 exh.

I think the 200's would be fine, the 220's may start to hurt your low end, for not much gain up top. You can always start with the 200's and open them up. If you open up 220's later you'll need to add cubes too.

Good deal, I know mike doesn't do any porting work, just R&R and machining. It shouldn't be too hard to get the exhaust side opened up. Since they are apart and they are in there I'd have them clean up the intake side too.

Re: Stealth Ram 383 (Formerly Ported Vortec TPI)
sorry its been awhile ive been really busy with work and school but I have a few updates.
as far as head choice I figured since the EQ's would require some porting for the same price as buying them and the machine work i should just go with a set of Dart Platinum Iron Eagle's....which im currently saving up for.
also sold the vortecs heads today. made enough of of them to go ahead and buy my Polished Stealth ram. Final price with shipping was $573.95 price of the intake was $560.00! Hopefully I should be getting them within the week.

Are you using the Holley fuel rails/fpr or are you going with one of the different methods?

I am with ya on this build. I have been installing a 383 with a HSR and T56. It has been on hold to get parts or when the weather is nice (Working in a driveway). It is in the car, just need to get the custom fuel lines made, ignition system installed, cooling system installed, and a few odd and end wiring.

Since its been down, and its constantly evolving I also Decided AFR 195's and a T56 is the way to go. Figure I might as well spare no expense. I should be buying the heads here within the next few weeks especially if I can get rid of these SLP Emissions headers I have for sale in the classifieds.

Re: Stealth Ram 383 (Formerly Ported Vortec TPI)
My Baby is back on track! Purchasing the AFR 195 heads tomorrow. Found them for $1448.95 with free shipping. Also plan on polishing the intake runners on the stealth ram with a gasket match and possibly rounding the edges of the intake ports(just like the infamous Ported stealth ram picture from the handy dandy search feature) that seems to be the only picture of a ported stealth ram around?
Anywhos, also found a set of Eibach Sportlines on craigslist. The seller is an older gentleman who installed the rears, and didnt like how low it sat. so he removed them after two trips to work roughly 120 miles. fronts werent even installed. Those should be an excellent addition to what I plan on acquiring which is front and rear Konis, adjustable strut towers, with a full tubular front end.
somehow im going to have to figure out a way to get a strut tower brace to clear that stealth ram....
Ill have some pretty pictures here shortly!

Re: Stealth Ram 383
***STATUS UPDATE***
Hey guys. Its been a while but good news!!!
So far I have everything to assemble the motor. minus the fuel rail for the stealth ram, throttle body, fuel lines, and alternator.
Final build is a 383 Stroker 1 pc rear main.
lunati 60121 cam .515 .530 with lunati 1.6 rockers resulting in .549 INT .571 Exh
Afr 195 65cc heads.
Stealth ram intake
30lb Injectors
52 MM throttle body
Dougs long tube headers
bbk pulleys.
full msd ignitions (street fire dizzy, ignition box, and coil)
8mm Taylor wires
BBK High volume fuel pump
and a champion 3 core.
behind a Rebuilt 700r4 good for just over 500hp with a 1800-2100 stall for driveability with my 3.23 gears . going for something I can rip on the highway. thats really the only place to get on it where I live. plus people over here love roll racing. car used to launch like a bat out of hell! i couldnt keep it from going sideways from 1st-3rd. hopefully it gets some more manners down low and wakes up some high end.
As far as the exterior.
I picked up a set of 82-84 vent fenders locally. im pulling the wiring harness so I can shave the engine bay and prep for paint. all ground effects are ready to go ws6 spoiler is almost complete. hardest part was filling the gaps caused from the curvature of the 4th gen body. putting final touches. It looks so menacing from the rear with the ws6 spoiler black out sequential LED tailights. Car color is also going to be changed from black to Medium Quasar Blue. I love that color. I m SOOOOOOO STOAKED to have my car back. its been a long time coming! lots of time and money in this one. Hoping it was all worth it. Although if i could go back. I would have heads cam swapped an LS and called it a day!!! live and learn lol

Hey guys. Quick update. Stayed getting everything together to throw the motor together. Finally got the wiring harness out of the bay. Will post pics of my 82-84 fender mock up shortly. But here's a little teaser of everything I have ready to be thrown in.

Re: Stealth Ram 383
Here's a few pics of the mock up (forgive the dirtyness) my baby's been a little neglected).
I still need to strip the laquer off of the fenders and remove a few Dents. This should be happening within the next few weeks.
These pics are also my 195/65 cc AFR heads. These things are beautiful! Couldn't be happier with them.

Re: Stealth Ram 383
Howdy guys. Been awhile lol. Of course things have popped up and had to put the bird on hold but back on track. Finally got to fix the steering column issues i had. it was really loose the inner bearing exploded but luckly when i bought a gta wheel to replace the old one the bearing was still in perfect shape. Forgive the mess -___-
Started playing with the suspension. picked up a set of sportlines a while back on the cheap from an older gentleman who didnt like how low it made his camaro. at 80 bucks it was a steal. threw on some adjustable AGX's in the rear. got a new sway bar kit and freshened up the old sway bar. since its the stocker 24mm i figured i would keep it. I picked up a set of founders strut mounts for the front but ill be getting the matching agxs when i can. Figured since the car is getting painted soon i should throw those on so if i bolt them on and they happen to leave outlines atleast theyll go back on to cover them up. waiting on my adjustable lower control arms and my adjustable panhard from founders should be here by this weekend and ill throw em in. after reading about the functions of the adjustables figured ya cant go wrong with adjustability.
replaced the stock fuel pump with the bbk kit and if anybodys interested its just a walboro. so if youre on the market for a new pump for your tpi it would be cheaper to just by the walboro kit directly.
heres a few pics to tie you guys over until i get the suspension components
heres a comparison to the old springs vs the Eibachs
And finally the Heart

Re: Stealth Ram 383
All done with the rear suspension. Total pain in the rear. *pun intended* the bolts on the driver side control arms were a nightmare. Had to cut them out to remove the old control arms. Other than that the only real pain was getting the new control arms with the bushing end into the mounts. pretty snug.
while i was under there I wanted to clean the undercarriage however time constraints prevented me from doing so . Everything took a bit longer than I hoped. Hopefully I can replace the rear end in the future in which case I'll definitely make sure to tidy it up a bit.
old vs. new control arms
old vs. new panhard
And here is the end results.
Here's a shot of one of the installed control arms.
Shot of the adjustable end of the panhard
Bushing end of panhard and the other goodies.
And finally how it sits now.
SUPER LOW! Lower than I had anticipated. Really excited to hit those speedbumps, I mean between the long tubes and the Eibachs. Its gunna be super fun! XD

OFF TO PAINT!!! WOOHOOO!!! cars going to get a Medium quasar blue metallic all over. Unfortunately during transport my 82-84 vent fenders got crushed :'( so ill need to get a set. If anyone reading this happens to have any or knows of anyone selling some I would appreciate it if you dropped me a line.
As far as the car goes theres a few spots that require some extra attn due to rust. So we will be pulling the front windshield to repair the a piller on the drivers side and repairing the few other spots. will have pics and updates as they come!

Re: Stealth Ram 383
FUN/AWESOME Update!
So When we were trailering the car to the shop it wasn't strapped down tight enough. first stop light the car rolled back onto the fenders we strapped down behind it. :/ Fortunately for me it made me do more digging into new fenders as well as the fenders I had. Turns out the 82-84 vent fenders I had wouldnt line up correctly with the 91 front bumper and the side gfx give those fenders some probs. So begins the hunt for new 85-90 vent fenders. tracked a pair down on a car that was being parted out about 2 1/2 hours away near daytona beach. I drove out there saturday to pick them up and met the owner. I actually took him my old stocker 91 fenders to put back on the car as he was parting it out and i wanted to hook him up for givving me a good price on the fenders. after pulling the fenders off with him and replacing them with the stock 91 fenders we started talking about my plans for the car. when i brought up the hood he told me he was infact selling a 91 Ram air 1 hood on craigslist. FF a few minutes and I asked him how much he was selling it for" for you $150" so ill be driving back next weeked to pick up my new Ram air 1 hood for 150 bucks. LOL on top of that he hooked me up with a manual clutch pedal assy AND a original owners service manual for the 92 firebird. totally awesome guy! saved me nearly 6-7 hundred.

Re: Stealth Ram 383
Picked up the hood.
Still cant believe I came across this hood for the price I did. As you can see it has some minor cosmetic flaws but nothing that cant be fixed good as new
Now on to the rust repair -_____- Unfortunately the car has some rust issues. the driver side a pillar and roof had some issues. Here's some before pictures
After a week or so got an updte that its spread a bit. pulled out the windshield and discovered some serious issues on the rear passenger qtr. possible that the rear qtr was replaced. Lots and lots of filler.
Annnnnndddd the after.
started inspecting the fenders and they do need a bit of work. previous owner sanded one of them down partially and didnt prime it so theres surface rust. I still have to fill the holes from the old ground efx.

Re: Stealth Ram 383
heres a quick mock up for fun
Also when I was getting rid of my old hood the purchaser wanted to swap me for his ram air box for the stock air cleaner setup!
picked up the coolant and washer overflows as well as the filler panel from the junkyard. everything cleaned up nice including the air box

Re: Stealth Ram 383
Next on the list is fixing the driver side battery tray. its pretty rough. not sure if I should cut it out as much as possible and then cut apart a left side replacement and re-weld it to fit the drivers side since I cant find a driver side replacement. from there Ill be stripping out the engine bay for further prep. hopefully soon I can get some cash under my belt to redo the PMD seats I picked up locally and from there swapping out the rear decklid. Any suggestions as far as replacement for the battery tray are welcomed! Thanks for lookin!
