im swapping a 305 out of my 87 formula, and putting in a 1979 400 SBC i thik i have almost everything figured out, except which distributor to use, im taking out the smog pump and 02, and air. so i'm taking almost all comp. away from the engine, but i dont want that to screw me up in the distributor, im not sure if it has mechanical advance and all that crap lol, any help would be greatly appreciated

 

If the engine has ANY computer control at all, use the 305's; and put the )2 sensor back.

If you have done away ENTIRELY with the TBI or TPI or whatever, or replaced the computer-controlled carb with a Holley or something, use a dist with vac & centrifugal advance.
