Is This A Streetable Swap
Does anyone know if this is too much cam to be a streetable driver on an 86 Camaro. He will also replace the (corvette) alum. heads for afr's for me (at a steep price of course), but my main concern before I pull the trigger is if this will be a good match for an in town driver\go to cruise in "cruiser"?? It will be topped with either the HSR or miniram. Any feedback highly appreciated!!

Re: Is This A Streetable Swap
They dont give cam specs so how can one answer the question?
However that lift value seems to be in line with comps xe282hr. 230/236. That cam in a 383 will be streetable, meaning it will have vacuum for brakes and idle pretty stable.
I've run bigger on 383's and 400's and been fine. But without knowing exact numbers its impossible to know for certain. Real question is what is streetable to you? And who will be tuning the car? Alot of how a cam drives is in the fine tuning of the efi system

Re: Is This A Streetable Swap
Streetable to me is being able to use my acc.'s, brakes with vac. and not having to add boost or anything. also I want good manners as far as idle. Also, what would you recommend to keep this cool. I've looked at a 2 row all alum. rad. that says it delivers up to 450hp w/out add on fans. different thermostat? Sorry, about all the cam info. not on there, I got it mixed up with a diff. engine ad I was looking at and thought it was on that one. Maybe you could direct me on how big I could go on duration spit with what lsa would work best for this setup for what I am trying to achieve? (I want all my accessories) Builder IS open to what I want. just trying to do it right the best I can from the begining

Also I was talking to Brian Harris-harristbichips...he says he can get me close to where I need to be if I give him all the info on the engine, etc. He is all over Flea-bay. anyone ever heard of him\used him? I looked at pcm4less on there mail order, but it seems like they only start with the same "stroked" chip for everyone, and only then go from there. I don't know what to do on that part. I never data logged b4, and there is just nothing around me close by...

Wouldnt go more than 230 deg at .050. Keep it on a 112 lsa or so. That will keep idle fairly calm. Some lope for sure but stable. Again the tune will take care of that. Everything else will work. Afr's plus hsr and a 230 cam is a stout setup, rev to 6200 easily and make good deal of power when done right.
Rad, all you need is a reconditioned stock late model tpi one like 87-92 or so. I would swap in stock ls1 fan system with built in shroud. Thats all you need. I ran tpi fans and stock reconditioned 89 rad in my 383 car. It was great. Ran cool.

Re: Is This A Streetable Swap
I had something go thru my rad last year, so I picked up a alum. stock replacement at one of the auto stores and put it in, ran fine thru the unbearable last summer. If this would work with the mods you say on the 383, what should the tuner turn the fans on at? same? Thanks.
