I have a 91 firebird with a 305 5 speed transmission. Me and my dad are wanting to swap to a 350, and build it up to what I want. I'm wondering if the type of 350 block we buy would matter or not? Any advice or tips will help, thanks.

 

yes it will matter, The flywheel on a 91 is different than a pre 86, pre 86 has a 2 piece rear main seal, where the 91 has a 1 piece rear main seal and uses a different flywheel, the difference in these is the size of the hole in the center of the flywheel, then the intakes are different as well from the pre 86 to the 91, my advice to make things easier would be to buy a 91 or there abouts block so that everything you have now will still work. Really any block you buy will work, just earlier models will cause you to change certain Items you already have!
