removing wiring?

My car was originally a 305 tbi but I'm in the process I'm swapping in a 350 with a carb. This may be obvious but I wanted to make sure but can I remove all of the wiring harness in the engine bay? Is there anything I'll have to keep?

Re: removing wiring?

You can remove most of it, just keep the stuff you want to still work

Re: removing wiring?

Ok I'll have to pick up a manual that shows the wiring. I'm not using ac so will the wiring for the power windows and wiring for alternator and starter be it pretty much?

Depends if you want the gauges to work.

Re: removing wiring?

The underhood wiring you need to keep is for the starter, alt., battery, elec. cooling fan (if you have an elec fan), oil pressure sender, water temp sender, tach, windsheild wipers, front lights (headlight, turn signals, etc), heater box wiring.

There is 2 main harness under the hood that breaks up into other mini harness.
The wires you need to keep is from the driver's side firewall harness. About half of those you need to keep.

You don't need many, if any of the harness that comes from the pass. side up between fender and firewall.

All of your power windows, power door locks, power mirrors, etc wiring is inside the car, not under the hood
