computer bypassed for engine swap
I bought an 89 trans am back in march, someone swapped the fuel injected motor with an older carburated motor. In order to do so he had disconnect everything to the computer. It's an automatic 700r4, it shifts every gear at 3000 rpms and I also will not shift until it hits 3000rpms, i was told it was because the trans wasnt hooked to the computer, has anyone ever hear of this problem before? Am I able to wire the transmission to the computer again? Or do I have to the computer bypassed?

That's just not true. The 700r4 in these cars are NOT computer controlled. The only function the computer has over the transmission is the lock up torque converter locking and un locking.
All cars before the late 70's, early 80's had non lock up converters.. Many 700r4s have been ran non lock up with no problems and normal shifts.
You can make the lock up function work with out the computer, do a search here for it.
But the lockup will not change your shifting rpm.
Your problem sounds like it's the TV (throttle valve) cable. The cables on these transmissions are not just a detent/kickdown cable like the older ones.. The TV cable controls line pressure which changes the shifts, and the life of your transmission.
When you swap to a carb, you need the correct brackets to fix the cable geometry and attachment.
