Please help 305 tbi to carbed 350 swap can't get it to start !!!!!

So here's the deal I just finished replacing my head gasket and intake seals as well as valve stems and umbrella seals and lapped my valves got every thing bolted down. I have a new edelbrock 600cfm carb,HEI dizzy, and Mallory fuel pressure regulator with return. I can't seem to get my engine running it cranks and I'm getting fuel and spark but will not fire up. Gas is blowing out of carb and it will backfire out of exhaust dizzy is set TDC I still can't figure out was going on a friend said I may have a bent valve and loosing compression threw carb please can someone shed light on this problem for me. Also my spark plugs are soaked with fuel.

Sounds like the engine was in the #6 firing position when you put the rotor at the #1 firing position.

In other words, the distributor is installed 180 degrees out.

"TDC" just means the piston is at top dead center. It does not mean the cam is in the compression/firing cycle.

Remember, the crank goes through two revolutions for every revolution of the cam/distributor.

OK.. I switched the fuel lines back to where they are supposed to be.. I dialed in into 47 PSI at the fuel rail. When I crank the car, it makes loud POPS like a backfire from the exhaust but dosent want to turn over and start.. Any Ideas?!?!?!?!

I think you fell victim of the infinite scrolling feature and it replied in the wrong thread. I don't see your thread updated.
For the record it is turning over, that's another way of saying it's cranking. It's not firing. Sounds like your distributor isn't lined up correctly.
