all you should need is a good welder, and something to cut metal and bend pipes ... everything else is just measurements and angles ... motor mounts can be made quick and easy (if you dont mind solid mounts) ... use a bop to chevy trans adapter if you dont want to use bop trans
Just use all the same mounting parts that a 2nd gen uses, the 3rdgen engine crossmember is based off the 2nd gen parts and lower control arms are mounted the same in each car.
A 200r4 trans will bolt right up and I have a 200r4 trans Xmember if you need one.

Thank you for your reply. That makes sense. I'm going to use the 700r with an adapter plate. I have a 700r in my 68 LeMans and it works well. Just to ensure I understand. Weld in the kmember mount from a 2nd gen and use 2nd gen mm. Thanks again.
Use a header for a 78-81 firebird/Camaro with a SBC. Bet they fit like a glove.
You meant with a Pontiac engine? Pontiac exhaust manifolds exit the heads at an angle that points downwards, unlike SBC that exit almost straight out the side.

Oh krap, sorry, yes, i ment pontiac engine.
Being tired is bad..
Yea I'm sure it can be done. I was able to stuff a 521 BBF into my 87 pretty easily. The BBF is one of the largest overall dimension wise production motors. Looked frigin awesome in the car and filled out the engine bay conpletely.
Drop it in and fab up some mounts and your good. Exhaust is easy.
Alright cool thank you. I assumed but, you know what assuming does. Figured it was safer to be 100% sure I've had that swap idea in my head for about 6 months or more. Sorry didn't mean thread jack.
For future reference, I have a '73 block out of a B-Body Catalina. What you're saying is that the engine mounts out of a Second Gen will allow me to make that block a bolt in?
Here I thought it was gonna be difficult because of the existence of adapter brackets and what not, when the solution was easy all along.
I tried selling my '84 Trans Am last week and after the guy backed out, I decided I'm just gonna build it like I had intended to before my wagon broke down and became the project car.
