'm new to making street cars. I've built dirt street stocks my whole life. I am in the process of getting an 85 but it is a v6 car and was wondering what all i would need to do me swap it with a built 350? it does have the stock trans and i want to swap that for a 4 or 5 speed manual trans. any suggestions?

Find an existing manual car (3rd or 4th gen) and get EVERYTHING that's connected to the transmission. drive shaft, trans, pedals, slave, linkages, everything. Check the transmission forum on here, there's plenty of write ups on how to do the work. Also, if you don't want to do all the searching you can visit hawks third gen's website and they sell complete manual swap 'kits' with everything you'd need.

The V6 to V8 swap is very easy really. You will need the V8 engine, transmission, exhaust manifolds or headers, Y pipe. New frame engine mounts which you can pick up at auto parts store. You will also need a V8 rad, and hoses.
Under the hood you have 3 wiring harness.. 1 is the engine wiring, 1 is body wiring and 1 (coming from pass side fender well) is computer wiring.
Your stock wiring will work just fine. You may have to lengthen or shorten a couple of wires depending on your new setup.
Where are you located? I am in Georgia. I part out third gens and have most all the parts you would need. In fact I have a complete world class T5 5 speed V8 transmission swap for sale.

Thanks for the info. I'm in southeast Missouri. I was planing on running a non computer controlled engine. I'm more familiar with them plus I have 3 race engines in my shop. I'm not wanting a full drag car or rally sport car just a car that will handle the road well and still have enough *** to whip the you punks in town.

I'm about an hour, hour 20 north of Columbus. Pretty much a straight shot up highway 27, or 185 to 27
Yeah man, I got all the parts you would need. I have a running 1984 LG4 305, a vortec 350 short block, A locked up '87 LG4 with all parts on it, 2 aftermarket cat back exhaust systems, exhaust manifolds, Y pipe, a 1989 world class T5 and all of the parts for that swap. Wiring harness from 2 LG4 carb'ed cars.
