Just because someone says it was a 350 swap doesn't mean it was. All I see is a center valve cover bolt SBC. Visually, all the SBC engines look the same.
You need to get casting or suffix numbers to see what it could possibly be. A 305 and 350 have different sized bores so casting numbers should be good enough to say it it's a 305 or 350 block. Suffix numbers can pinpoint to a more specific year and maybe type of vehicle the engine came out of.

Yeah just cause they say it don't make it true. A quick little story.. Few mo. ago I went to look at an '87 firebird for sale. It was a younger guy in his early 20's. He bought the car I think when he was 16.
He swore it was a 350 engine that the guy he bought it from swapped in.. I belevie this guy really thought it was a 350.. I seen it and the "swap" just looked too neat and clean. It looked all factory..... Guess what? It was all factory. I told the guy, you can look up the codes, etc and he wanted to know how so we moved the alt. out of the way and got the suffix code. I told him how to google the code and look it up... It was a 1987 305 firebird engine.
After talking to the guy some, found out he told sellers he was looking for a 350 engine car and this guy lied to him, said yeah it's a 350 that we swapped in.
Now to the point... Pull the alt off, right behind the alt, there is a machined pad on the block, clean that pad off with brake parts cleaner and a wire brush... Get the numbers/letters off of that pad.. That is your engine suffix code. It will tell mo, day, plant engine was built, along with year, size, HP, induction system, type car it was installed in, etc

Re: Can anyone tell me what engine this is?
Sweet thanks everyone, I am 99 percent sure it's a 350 cause I bought it from a good friend who swapped it... I'll remove alternator and check the numbers, I am new to this forum and am sure I'll have questions. It seems like the TV throttle cable needs adjusting 2 or tranny is slipping or needs new filter etc...

Use a flashlight and look at the block behind the drivers cyl head. There should be 5.0L or 5.7L cast into the block in big letters

So I flushed the tranny filter and fluid since the transmission seems to take a minute to shift from 2nd to 3rd. Its like it revs up to shift then sits on top of RPM and then shifts down. At higher speeds 60+ or even 50mph if you gun it it doesnt down shift. I have been told this could or is the TV cable and just needs to be adjusted. Any ideas on how to adjust this one? See Pic.
