2 trucks involved
'92 sierra, 305 5.0l, 2wd
'95 z71, 350 5.7l, 4wd
Swapped the 305 into the 95 chevy, took out the 350...everything hooks up fine...only thing replaced was timing gears inside the time cover...made sure the marks aligned, then installed it in.
Only thing is I'm reading about these 2 engines' different timing positions...305 at 12:00 position & 350 at 1:30 position...I either get a backfire thru intake or no fire at all.

Your ignition timing is off. Adjust the dist.

Got it to fire up but holding down the throttle after engine warms is still surging...switched some sensors but Originally Posted by Rez-NDN
