LT1 heads swap into a Gen 1, which welding aluminium to use ?

Hello everybody,

My name is Pierre, I'm coming from Switzerland !

I'm currently putting my little 305 tbi to pieces with the idea of making it a little bit more efficient. My project is to swap lt1 heads, intake manifold and cam in it. (Very very mild modifications but here in Switzerland fuel is expensive and most of the cars are around 150 hp with little 1.6l 4 in line engine, 5.0 liters is already a monster here...! )

I read a loooot of stuff about thirdgen cars in this forum, it's amazing, I ordered a whole ostrich kit, learned how to tune the chips, learned how TBI worked, How to do the TBI ultimate mods, how to swap the LT1 intake on the Gen1 engine... The amount of infos about these cars are amazing !

I already know about the reverse cooling things, I found some other projects like mine on the internet, the thing that I'm wondering about is : what's the code of the aluminium that GM is using to make the LT1 heads ?

I found a guy welding with some 6061 T6 alu, could someone confirm that it is the right aluminium ?

English is not my native language and I'm a med student so keep it simple if you're going on tech details... I'm doing it with a friend who's a machinist and faaaar more experimented than me...

Thanks a lot for your time !
