5.3 Swap Questions
OK. Here's the scoop. I have an 06 Tahoe that's dead in the water. The engine and all components were completely functional until after sitting for a couple of weeks, I returned to find the battery completely drained.
I've not been able to get it to start, or even turn over since.
Now my question IS swap related in a back handed sort of way.
If someone were to take this engine in it's complete state, that is everything that's there for a fully functioning and running drop in replacement for an engine swap, how do they get it to start in a different vehicle altogether?
Is HP Tuners or similar software needed to bypass all of the unneeded accessories?

Re: 5.3 Swap Questions
I'll bump this. Reason being as my search (here at thirdgen) didn't answer my question specifically. Everything but actually.
What software, if any, is used to crack the OEM PCM and see what's going on? Swap aside, it would be very helpful in solving my current no crank condition.

Hp tuners will delete vats, egr or whatever it is you want to delete
If you're just trying to fix the problem with the Tahoe I'd start by putting a hot battery in if the current one is bad. After that you can read the codes with a basic scanner/code reader.

Problem is that once the battery has been been removed, the codes are gone.
Maybe a Tech 2 type scanner could go deeper but my CAN bus compatible unit won't pull any codes. The battery has been in and out several times. So has the PCM and BCM. Both replaced with the originals.

Re: 5.3 Swap Questions
My hope is that HP Tuners would be able to see what's not connected or non-functional. I've obviously got a problem with the wiring someplace but whether it's one of several dozen grounds or a power wire that's burnt up or broken somewhere, I haven't been able to find. This is despite a fresh battery, new ignition switch, various jumpers and hours spent with schematics, a mutlimeter and test light.
I'm sure the same situation pops up when ever someone does a swap. There are problem a hundred items that need to be addressed and Tuners or similar seems to be the tool of choice.
I'm open to any and all suggestions.

You can go the HP Tuners route, or if you know someone with a high end scanner (snap on Modis/Solis/ect.) they can look to see what system isn't talking to the rest.

Re: 5.3 Swap Questions
Would that include something like a GM Tech 2 scanner? That's about $550 (CDN) which isn't an unreasonable investment.
