4.8L 4L60E Swapped Third Gen Drag Times
Well I hit the track this weekend in the car, and it did pretty good for a stock 4.8.
Car ran a 14.02 @100mph and hovered from 14.02-14.08 consistently for 10 passes or so. Ran 15 passes in total in the night and then drove it an hour home.
Coming to the end of the second year with this setup. Very impressed with the reliability and punch the little 4.8 can throw out.
Car has midlength headers, 2.5 into 3 inch y pipe and cat back as the only engine mods. Car was "tuned", never been dyno tuned or driven and tuned so idk what's on it....
Transmission has a b&m shift kit. Spohn tubular torque arm, Alston frame connectors and wonderbar for chassis stuff. 4th gen rear end, 3.73 posi, Cooper Street tires(not slicks point being) 275/40/18 in the rear on wagon wheels 255/45/17 in front.
I thought it did pretty good. Slicks and it should be a 13 second car, man I was pissed being so close, but impressive nonetheless.
So if your thinking of swapping, do it. You won't regret it. And these aren't the best times either, just an example of how to take a 17 second V6 car and get it going pretty fast for cheap.

I'm doing a 4.8 swap as well. It'll be a while before it's all done but I've got a running donor vehicle already. A lot of people knock the 4.8 but I'm cool with it. It's way better than factory tbi(what my car is) and I bet it gets good gas mileage.
Arent you the guy with the YouTube vids running the truck intake?

Yeah that's me on YouTube I think. Silver sport coupe right?
I drove from Brantford Ontario to the Summit racing in Tallmadge Ohio in one tank of gas, and before the rear end swap it was even better than that. But you sacrifice a bit to go faster right..
I wanna get some vids up of the underside now that my dad got a hoist. And I'll be swapping my 85 c10 soon with a similar powertrain, but with all that room it may get a snail some point in the future. They respond so well to boost, so why not.
Anyways good luck with the swap like I said worth every minute.

Yep that's the car. I'm glad to see you running the truck intake because I was gonna try it even before I saw yours, now I know it will work.

There's another thread here where a shaved truck intake was under an IROC-Z hood, using Trans-Dapt S-10 swap mounts, but IIRC he had to space the crossmember down with washers and longer bolts, about 1/2".

Thanks for the comments
I'm using Hedman Husler ls midlengths, 1 3/4 primaries 3 inch collectors into 2.5" y pipe into 3" exhaust.

That's cool that you did a swap with a 4.8L. Everyone wants a 6.2L, and it's hard to find one for a good price. Supply and demand, I'm sure.

4.8>305 all day. I plan to go with more cubes eventually but I got a good deal on the 4.8 set up and I can run it while I put together a 6.0. I think the little 4.8 will be fun.
Sweet. I bought "f body" manifolds a while back but I pulled them out a few days ago and realized the ******* sold me truck manifolds so I think I'll just go ahead and buy headers.

Truck manifolds are some of the best of the cast exhaust manifolds. They used one design for the 4.8, 5.3, and 6.0 motors. Same today with the 5.3 and 6.2. More than enough for a stock 4.8.

But everything I've read says they won't fit. I did also read you can't run an ls1 intake with a truck water pump which is bs, it's not hard to make the room. Just discovered that last night.
Will the truck manifolds clear?
