3.1 V6 upgrade to LT4 or LS1 V8
I am wanting to upgrade my engine from the crappy v6, which also has almost 200k miles thus far to a V8. The V8 I want is an LT4 or LS1. Would anyone be able to tell me how this would work, if at all?

sell your car & use it as a down payment on your new ride, other wise, do a search on the other 6-8 swaps in this section.

About 4000000(ok, slightly exagerated, but lots) people have asked this same question on this board before. In the end the general answer is that it is probably gonna be cheaper just to buy a car that was orginally a V8. Thirdgens are a dime a dozen these days, and you can find fairly nice V8 thirdgens starting at $2000-$3000, and I know some of the guys on this board found thiers that needed just a couple hundred bucks or so worth of work for really cheap (under a grand). Search old posts and you'll see exactly what I mean. And welcome to the board.

You guy's are missing something. Even if he sells his car he can't go out and buy a 3rd gen with an LT4 or LS1.
If you're serously wanting either of those two motors you might be able to do it for around $5000. You'll have to do the research on the prices. You'll need the tranny with either of those because your v6 has a different pattern.
You need to find a donar car. You might as well buy it for parts if you can. You'll need the wiring harness, engine/tranny. If you get the whole car you can part out the parts that don't fit 3rd gen's and put the ones that do on your car.
Expect it to take a long time to get working, you'll have to weld, and fabricate a lot of things.

I thought it would be a little expensive myself. Though it would be a fun project. For now I am just trying to work on some minor things, such as the interior. The person that had it before must have had a bad case of the wet *** or something because there is so much rust on the springs in the seat, and the only reason I know of this is that the fabric is torn where the seat meets the back.
I should be able to scrap for parts from a newer model corvette from what I heard. Though, this I will have to check out a lil bit myself. Though if you guys have any feedback on that again, please let me know.
As well. I am glad to be a part of this forum as well.
Thank you,
