3.1 to 3.4

I've been searching now for quite awhile and havent found this question yet.

I have a 3.1 right now with only 60k on it the cars been wrecked for a long time and just now getting fixed and runs nice and i was wondering besides the CAI and exhaust and stuff what can i put inside the engine such as cam and roller arms or whatever they are that will be a real nice upgrade to the 3.1 but whenever this 3.1 wears out (which could be sooner than usual due to sitting for so long) that i can swap in the 3.4 and it still be an upgrade to that thanks.

Every thing can be swapped. I just wouldn't invest in any head work. The 3.4l heads are better if you see a 3.4l swap in the future.

Everyone says the 3.4s are better. I can't find a single pic of a 2.8/3.1/3.4 side by side.

After I totalled my car, it sat for a month while I bought a parts car, stripped both to a frame, and saved up enough cash to have a shop do the frame swap. When I started it back up again, not only did I put a huge cloud of smoke over the neighborhood, but my valve seals started leaking. I think sitting for so long dried them up; now I get that little blue puff of smoke out of the tailpipes from the exhaust. Also, it wouldn't start right after I rebuilt the car. I thought I botched the wiring up. My dad suggested we try putting new gas in- I had wrecked it with the needle almost on "E". A few 3-gallon cans of 93 octane later and it started up.

Squirt some oil into the spark plug holes and spin the engine clockwise manually with the center bolt on the crank pulley. Then remove your coil wire and crank the engine a bit to build up oil pressure in the engine to lube things up a bit.

If you do the rockers, the valve seals will be "right there" waiting for you... you'd just need compressed air and an on-the-car valvespring compressor to change them. There's also a "thin rope" method for keeping the valves from falling into the cylinders... HAH! I love the search feature on thirdgen.org!! Here's the message I wrote up about the "thin rope method": https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...144#post952352

So I think the only problems are (A) gas might be dead, (B) valve seals might start leaking a bit, (C) all the oil is definately out of the passageways and just sitting in the pan.
