350 and 305 diferences

This is not the usual 305 to 350 post , my question is can i use pistons, con-rods and or any other internals in my 305? I have decided I am using this 305 and was looking into forged internals and was wondering what was the difference

I don't think I understand your question. Are you asking if you can use the internals of a 305 in a 350 block or vise versa? The bore sizes of the 305 and 350 are different, but they share the same crank. So you can interchange the crankshaft. As for the top end, anything much larger than 58cc heads will not have enough compression for the 305 and 305 heads on a 350 will produce too high of a compression and will not flow worth anything in the upper RPM range. Hope that helped you out some.

thanks, i knew about the top end parts and the crank is the same but they are balanced different, i was just wondering what would've happened if i used an after market 350 rotating assembly, i guess it wouldn't fit right?

The rods will work, but the pistons wont.

www.partsamerica/com has forged flat-top 305 pistons available (they even show 305 pistons to be used with a 350 crank). You could also call Summit or Jegs to see what they've got.

In my opinion (and it's just my opinion), it's not worth it to put that kind of money into a 305. If you have to go pistons and the associated machine work, your benefit/dollars will be higher with a 350, even if you have to buy a core 350 block first. If you think I'm just another 305 hater, take a close look at my sig.

Thanks for all the info, guys I know it makes sense to build a 350, and that is my actual plan but i can't find a plain block here in miami, and I just want to make sure i can build an strong reliable motor regardless of size, it's going to be supercharged eventually I only want to squeeze 500rw horses out of it and that should not be too hard with a healthy 305 and 12-15 lbs of boost
