well,its got 255 hp @ 4600 rpm
and 330 ft torque @ 2800 rpm..
it'll have more power with the intake and carb,
but i should change the cam i guess ...

Have the springs on those vortec heads upgraded to handle .550 lift, change the pressed in studs for screw in studs and get a 3 angle valve job. Next swap the cam for the LT-4 hot cam, get 1.6 roller rockers, you'll need the SDPC vortec TPI intake. This combo made 354hp and 400 ft lbs. in Chevy high performance Mag.

Car: 1988 Firebird S/E
Engine: 406Ci Vortec SBC
Transmission: TH-350/3500stall
Axle/Gears: 7.5" Auburn 4.10 Posi-Traction
There is only one intake to bolt on that vortec motor
An edelbrock Performer RPM (Vortec) and 750 carb
The factory vortec hyd roller cam is pretty mild
I would bolt in a "ZZ4" or "Hot Cam". You can reuse your
stock roller lifters but the valve springs will need to be up graded
Crane #99846 will drop right on and fit the bill.
There is not enough clearance between the factory valve
guide seal and valve retainer. for either of these cams' extra lift.
Remove the heads and take them to a machine shop and
have them shorten the guides .200". Then just reassemble with
the new springs.
The factory pressed in rocker studs should be ok as is.
We recently dyno tested one like this (410 hp@6100 rpm) and it was fine.
Check the factory self guided rockers for clearance with the stud
at full lift, should be .030" additional travel minimum.
Be sure the replacement gasket is the same thickness as the stock one or you'll loose compression.
Look for around 380 hp with the ZZ4 and 395 to 410 with the hot cam.

There are 3 that I know of. The one you mentioned, the one that 1bad91z spoke of, and SDPC carries a TBI specific intake for the TBI. Well actually there are 4, the stock one counts to.

Although I'm sure by now that a few companies have made them also. They gotta keep up with the crowd ya know.
Any company that doesn't have one yet, then they're loosing money.AJ
