Frame connectors for 89 Firebird
I want to put inner and outer frame connectors on my 1989 Firebird. I did this to my 87 formula and I like it but this 89 bird has bad floor pans and I was told that if I put frame connectors on this car that I should make sure the car isn't sagging so I can get the car as tight as possible. Of coarse I'm going to get new floor pans for this car but do I really have to worry about the car sagging or was that just the guy making fun of Firebirds. But if so how do I let the weight off the car so it doesn't sag and weld these frame connectors in because I want this car to be as tight as possible. Maybe I'll put a 8 point roll cage in it for extra strength.
Thanks, Drake

Re: Frame connectors for 89 Firebird
If the car isn't STRAIGHT (i.e. if it's warped, sagging, bent, tweeeeked, whatever) when you put on the SFCs, the SFCs will hold the car PERMANENTLY in the incorrect position.
It's not about "load the suspension", "let the weight off", or ANY of that. It's about STRAIGHT.
I had mine put on using a race car jig.
Here are the chassis dimensions.
A GOOD frame shop will likely be able to hold the car STRAIGHT, or for that matter straighten it if it isn't straight now, and weld em on STRAIGHT.
