trans am 4.3 almost ready

I aim to take the 90deg v6 TA to Dominion this Sunday for it's first outing. The car is an '88 that originally came with a 305. The fellow I bought it from in Miami blew a 383 drag racing. He tossed in a truck 350 so it would move. I combined 2001 block and heads with '89 crank and rods. RC Automotive had a cam ground by Erson, 240 deg@.050 and .510 lift, mechanical flat tappet. There are mods to the suspension,

including Dave's used Tokicos. If this thread gets any interest, I'll include the detailed list and description of the process. I will be instructing on the road course.

The engine lived through 3 sessions at Dominion, until battery went flat,

no charge from alternator. I'll be taking the Pontiac to Summit in November.

Well, now it looks like this. On a cautiously positive note, the chassis dyno it blew up on said 258hp and 333ft torque. This seems off in that it was all done by 4200rpm. Considering cam specs of 240deg@ .050 and .510 lift, me and the people grinding the cam expected hp peak around 6000rpm. It never felt right.

Man, that really sucks!
As for the damage I can relate... back in the syclone/typhoon days we overdid them a bit We destroyed a few crankshafts 20 +++psi and stock cranks and 2 bolt mains did not play well together

I put it back together. It's now on ebay. Hopefully it will go to someone with the time and energy to smooth out the rough bits and have fun with it.

Bowtie aluminum heads.
