More L31 Questions.

So just ordered a L31 crate motor From GM performance for my 92 with the ol TBI 305. Just finished rebuilding the 700r4 that was in it when I bought it. For exhaust I got some Hooker 2055s and a 3 inch catback from jegs. Also got a GM 12464340 dual plane intake to go with an Edelbrock AVS2 1906 carb. Have quite a few questions. I have been reading all I can but some threads don't go into details about little things. Sorry for my noob questions.

I know all my accessories will bolt right up. I have it understood that I need to transfer my timing cover and balancer from my 305 over to the L31. Some say I can use the L31s HB. Which do I use for a more simple setup?

As for the TBI wiring harness, what do I reconnect? Wondering about the starter, alternator and vss wiring.

Which fuel pressure regulator would work well with the TBI intank pump? Saw some mention a mallory and some aeromotive part nos. Seem pricey.

Will my stock throttle cable and bracket work? Seems long enough., I ordered an edelbrock 8032 bracket just incase.

The flexplate from my 305 will work just fine I have read. I have a complete L98 to pick parts from if needed. I'm gonna run the stock L31 cam until I feel I need more horses.

I have read I have to use a melonized dizzy gear for the roller cam in the L31. Can I use the dizzy gear off my 305 dizzy since it has a roller cam as well?

As I have it understood I have to run a hose from the water pump to one of the ports on the intake correct?

One more thing about the timing. As I have read, people say the timing marks will be off with the original sbc timing cover. In this case all I have to do is put the motor at TDC and mark were 0 TDC is at on the balancer in relation to the timing tab?

Sorry for the noob questions and your help is very much appreciated.

Re: More L31 Questions.

How the Hell are you gonna pass Cali SMOG, without the LB9 TPI 's INTEGRAL EGR and lack of visible ignition timing scale? I want a L31 for my '89 IROC Z, but wouldn't expect to pass SMOG.

Next time? Piece of cake. Simply swap back in my bone stock LO3 and all its smog related power choking gizmos. Viola. But you'd be surprised how easy it is to pass $mog around these parts . But no seriously simply swap my LO3 back in with another rebuilt transmission I will have on standby. Thanks for the link I will read up.
