Hey Everyone, I picked up a completed 350 with an ecm that had a tuned prom, i plan on swapping it into my 87 iroc but i am unsure if the 350 prom will work because i have a manual trans. I intend on keep the manual transmission but does anyone know if using the 350 prom will work if it doesn't have an auto trans hooked up? I've tried searching the forums but i have been unable to find anything. has anyone tried a swap like this and had success?

 

No the ECM does not care. It gets no real input from the transmission except the contact that says it's in high gear, and the only output it gives, is the TCC. It won't even know whether there's a transmission out there or not. It'll be fine, in this one particular area anyway.

 

Oh I forgot (or maybe I should say, I remembered), there is one oddity I should mention:

The same driver channel in the ECM that drives the TCC in an auto car, drives the Shift Up dash light in a stick car. If your car has that light (can't remember what all years & applications did or didn't come with it) it will light whenever the ECM thinks it's time to apply the clutch. Which is kinda weird. But you can just take out the bulb.
