first of all what do i all need to convert a 350 to a 383 , a 400 crank of course , new connecting rods? and i think its only a 377 if you do that , then its a 383 when you bore it 30 over? also would it work to keep the tpi it already has? (87 z28 currently with a 305) oh and would a new 700r4 with a fresh rebuilt rearend and 3.73 posi be able to handle the power of the 383? and another question off the topic wahts the diff between the car and truck 350s i heard there are some differences?? thanks

 

To convert a 350 to a 383, you need the larger 400 crank of course and to bore it .030. You could use your existing TPI, but new injectors would be needed. You also may have to look into getting a new chip for the computer. A rebuild of the transmission wouldn't hurt anything, and would make one less thing you have to worry about. You may want to look into getting a stronger housing like a 10 bolt. 3.73 gears would be a nice compliment to a well built 383.
