using 4th gen radiator, what upper shroud to use??

I'm installing drivetrain from 02 camaro into 82' firebird, I want to use the 4th gen radiator & ls fans but I'm looking to see what people have used for the upper shroud that looks close to stock as possible. I have seen people use the 3rd gen dual electric fan upper shroud cut down to fit it but the radiator is narrower so how does it fit into the rubber mounts? I have heard online that the 4th gen upper shroud should fit, but it doesn't seem so because I can't even close the hood, unless there is a way to grind it down to fit better. Just looking for more insight before I spend a hundred bucks on a upper shroud from a 3rd gen. If anyone has done this pictures please detailing how the shroud is mounted, thanks and Merry Christmas!!

I had to make a custom piece to hold the top of the radiator. It dose not look stock at all. I choose to use the 4th gen radiator because I had it and it has provisions to hold the fans and 4th gen hoses are easy to source.

I used the stock 3rd gen dual fan upper support. I just had to trim it a little bit, I don't know exactly how much from stock because I had trimmed it previously for a different vehicle I had installed the dual fan in. It wasn't hard. I used a coping saw and a file.

I wanted to use radiator for the same reasons. Looking to keep it stock looking sounds like most guys are using the thirdgen shroud cut to fit. For guys who have done this how does radiator end tank on drivers side fit? I wouldn't think it would since it is slighty narrower. I dont have a shroud yet to experiment just seeing if I should spend the money to buy one or if its possible to use my 4th gen shroud somehow.

Re: using 4th gen radiator, what upper shroud to use??

Well I ordered a reproduction thirdgen upper shroud for dual fans from Hawks since they were running a holiday special 20% off, so between the two shrouds I have I will be able to make them work with some cutting, thanks guys for replys.

Re: using 4th gen radiator, what upper shroud to use??

No I don't, maybe good idea? what section to post that in? I received a few parts and tried them out, I tried the 4th gen radiator out first, I installed it but without the radiator cap installed the neck was right against the hood so with a cap it would not be able to fit properly. The neck is also tilted at a funny angle not looking right imo. I have a firebird so maybe a camaro would possibly work out? The 4th gen shroud was nowhere near close to fitting so that is a no go as well. So I will be going with 3rd gen condensor & radiator, with 4th gen ls1 fans and use a 3rd gen upper shroud/radiator support cut down to fit like others have done. The fans slip right into the lower channel with nothing extra needed to hold them in place, but will need to do some cutting of tabs on top and 3rd gen shroud once I get it to make it work. It should work well and look stock when finished. Thanks for the help fellas
