Finally made up my mind to pick up a L31 crate engine and wondered where everyone is getting their engines from? I remember not too long ago these could be had for 2K or even less. Most prices I am seeing are closer to $2700 now. Any suggestions?

I saw that one but was thinking of finding a new engine. I had heard lots of both good and bad things about ATK engines. I was just thinking if it was <$500, I would just go new and save some potential hassle.

 

I got mine on eBay from Radley Chevrolet ,a dealer in Virginia. Mine is the 2 bolt version. No need for a 4 bolt main at that power level.

 

I bought mine last November from Cable-Dahmer Chevrolet via EBay; L31 2-bolt for $1,979 plus tax. I see they show 0 available right now. Back in November, when I was shopping, I called Scoggin Dickey to see why they no longer listed L31 crate engines. Was told they were out of stock due to the UAW strike and wasn't sure when they would have them again. This might be the problem.

 

It looks like the old part number has been replaced.

Seems to be a shortage of them available. Pace over in Ohio has them listed... not sure about stock though..

I'd stay away from ATK or other remans except Jasper. Google ATK and read about the problems and lack of durability.
