Engine SwapEverything about swapping an engine into your Third Gen.....be it V6, V8, LTX/LSX, crate engine, etc. Pictures, questions, answers, and work logs.
HI! I bought my camaro a while ago. She didn’t run when I got here I cleaned out the injectors and now she runs. Had a battery problem and fixed that. Interiors a wreck but she’s still beautiful. My plan was to find a wreaked car. And pull engine and tranny. She’s a T-top.
Looking for some advice on engine swap ideas, and helpful info. My neighbor is a mechanic and I’ve talked to him about it.
It’s a V6 now but I plan to do a big swap. I want something with greater than 350 HP maybe more plan to do light drag. Not professionally. But just to have some fun.
Has to be street legal.
I plan on taking out the back seats and the A/C.
Want to go carbureted.
I have shocks all way round already.
Want her to sound mean and be able to hold her own.
I also plan on putting a sound system in it eventually. And re doing the dash. Everything about the car is stock at the moment.
There isn’t really a budget, but I’m hoping for more on the cheaper side since I’m going to school to be a mechanic.
Anything is helpful!! Thank you!!
just need to gather the needed v8 parts(transmission, mounts, engine accessories, etc) from a junked 3G or other source, get v8 springs-could get those new, used may be fatigued and sagged, then obtain a suitable engine to install.Car is a little scruffy as it sits, but if rust free, could be fixed up into a real nice "classic car"driver-please do not strip it out into a D-stock for the street if it can be made nice again-these are very satisfying cars to drive when properly done....
