sbc 400 swap into a 90 Firebird
Me and my dad bought a v6 Firebird to have some fun with and just make a cool hot rod. It's just a base model nothing special. We have a carburated 400 sbc mounted to a turbo 400 trans that we'd like to drop in. We're also considering using a Ford 8.8 rear end. Regardless of if we use the 8.8 rear end we need to figure out a way to mount the torque arm. Any tips or tricks? Just looking for some ideas before we get too deep and realize we've screwed something up.

Also I forgot to put in the last message we know we need to move the brake line on the engine cross member and relocate the motor mounts. Other than that we're just doing whatever seems best. We'd like to keep it street legal, working instruments and electronics and such as well.

Regarding the torque arm mount, the simplest way I can think is to get a transmission crossmember with that provision. You'll need a crossmember anyway for the TH400. Holley/BlackHeart has one to suit both needs. That particular part is for their LS swap and various transmissions. There may be some slight adaptation required.
Here's a link to a thread I started regarding a similar swap to yours. Toddoky from Holley chimes in about fitment issues and dimensions. It may be helpful.
