3.1 to V8
3.1 to V8
i have a 91 3.1 V6, i want to put a sb chevy v8 in it, i want it to be carburated. What is the smallest V8 that i can get, liek a 350 or smaller? Also, is there any way to make it emmissions legal, i need it to be. Thanks
In answer to your first question, the smallest chev small block engine that you could use would be a 262 0r 267 c.i.d. engine. Find one in an old 80s el camino. It's really an underrated engine. With a little work, you can get mid 30 mpg, and approximately 350HP. No, wait, no you can't. Those engines have probably half the power of your 6.
Only real emissions legal swap is your year engine--a '91 305 0r 350-- (with either TBI or speed density TPI) swapped into your car.
Go buy a V8 car...much easier.
