Dbw to dbc

This has probably been asked before but I can't seem to find it. That and my situation is a little bit different from what I have found. I have a complete engine that is drive by cable, harness, computer, everything. The engine cylinders are dead. I have a new engine that is drive-by-wire however it does not have a complete harness or come with a computer. can I simply take my existing harness and computer and put it onto the drive-by-wire engine and change the intake to the drive-by cable? Or is it more than a plug-in play?

I assume you are referring to some sort of an LS engine. For the most part the answer is yes but there are a few more things we need to know to ensure its as simple as stated. What are the two engines in this situation and from what generation (58x or 24x) are they from?
