305 to 350 cooling and rear-end question
305 to 350 cooling and rear-end question
Hi, I have an 84 Z/28 and I am planning on swapping in a 350 SBC from GM, https://www.summitracing.com/parts/nal-19417624 . I'm not planning on changing much on it except a Holley EFI system and a cam. I was wondering if I can use the stock radiator, or would I have over heating problems. I was also planning on keeping the stock 10-bolt that's in there but doing a full rebuild on it. I'm going to run 315's all around as well and the car will be for street and autocross use. Thoughts on if the rebuilt 10-bolt will work?
Thanks,
Collin

Stock radiator should be fine. 10 bolt should be ok as long as you aren't making launches on drag tires at the strip. Then it could break. Every day driving and occasionally spinning the tires shouldn't hurt a beefed up 10 bolt, but we all know its not the strongest rear end for sure.

315s and a 10 bolt could be an issue I would also worry about cracking the power steering mount. Stock radiator is quite good.

Done the same swap, though unsure of your cam. Long story short, you will be fine across the board. Only real issue would be if you have that 9 bolt aussie rear end in it. It will do fine, but if ever if breaks it is a bear to get parts for!
