Currently right now i have a 89 rs camaro that has been carbed and manual swapped its a 350 0.30 bored over to a 355 with stage 2 cam and being limited by the affordable at the time t-5

i have a guy willong to sell me his 5.3 swapped 4th gen camaro for a grand now i know the ls swap basics but how cost affective is this compared to trying to do this peice by peice also what else would i need

I wanna put everything into the 3rd gen

Car: '89 Firebird
Engine: 7.0L
Transmission: T56
Re: Which is easier

'99-'02 Camaro/Firebird is the ideal donor car for its front accessory drive, car intake, oil pan, harness, ECM, fuel tank, transmission, rear axle, brakes, driveline, rear suspension goodies that might cross over, seats, and even the wheels if you are willing to use spacers on the front. But that car has been molested so I don't know what you're getting or how to advise you.

I will say that any car that runs is worth way more than $1K.... so buyer beware.

I agree that $1,000 American is cheap.

You just have to hope that there are some good Components still in that 4th-Gen Camaro...
and that NOT everything is complete Junk/ worn-out/ broken/ damaged, Etc.

Good luck!

Re: Which is easier

Long story short the previous owner burnt out the ls1 swapped im a 5.3 but it doesnt stay running once u put it in gear it dies out upside is he was smart enough to put the fbody oil pan on but stupid enough to keep a truck intake everything is solid on the car my game plan was robbing the drivetrain and trying to profit off parting out the 4th gen maybe even my 355 or just for the hell of it double swap put the 5.3 in the 3rd gen and 355 in the 4th.

I just want to know whats usable i know i should take the following
* Engine
* trans 4l60e
* gas tank and carefully pull lines
*headers
* seats

Anything else??

Re: Which is easier

The OEM LS1 Intake-Manifold is not great...
There are some OEM Truck Intake-Manifolds that produce more Torque and Horse-Power.

4TH-Gen F-Body Gen-III/ Gen-IV SBC Headers do not usually fit 3RD-Gen F-Bodies with a Gen-III/ Gen-IV SBC swap.

From the Engine... Accessory Brackets, Pulleys, and the actual Accessories are good to take.
QwkTrip gave you a short list of the most common Parts to take.

I personally like to take all of the Wiring/ Harnesses from all around the Vehicle.

The entire Dash, and Center-Console are often wanted... Good to sell to someone who wants to swap interior.

Good luck and have fun!
