ok so i have a 1990 3.1 5 speed rs cars body is great very good condition little to no rust good panels. cluster is gone so would need to source one. i cant fins a 3.1 engine anywhere near me. i have 2 good 2.8 motors and a t5 out of a 87 how hard would this be to do? and is it do able keep in mind im in the car for $0 and i would like to keep it a v6. any advise is appreciated just a fun fall/winter project

 

I was looking into going from a 2.8 v6 to a 3.1 v6, and from what I've seen they are literally the same engine, but the 3.1 is just built a little differently on the inside to give it that larger volume. From what I've seen it's exactly the same in terms of mounting and wiring and stuff. So it would be a pretty easy process, as far as installing new engines go. Just make sure you have all the nessecary parts that you need to make the engine run properly, like the wiring harness and stuff.

 

oh so i have a issue im about to drop in the engine and trans but came to realize i do not have a speed sensor car is a 1990 and engine and trans is from a 1987 its a non world class so how do j go about hooking up a speedo i keep getting mixed stuff when j look up a vss for it
