2.8 and 3.1?
What exactly is the difference between a 2.8 and a 3.1 liter engine. Are the blocks exactly the same with changes in the bore and stroke or what? I have a 3.1 in my car now and a 2.8 just sitting around in my firebird so Im thinkiing of just using the 2.8 instead of buying a later camaro 3.4.

The most basic difference is a 3.1 is a stroked 2.8, and the 3.4 is a bored 3.1. There are also some technology differences, like no cold start injector on the 3.1 and speed density rather than MAF, etc.
