Skip white vs Ohio Crankshaft

I am gonna be in the market for a rotating assembly to build me a 383 stroker. Just looking for ideas cause this build is gonna happen this winter. Who would you go with a Skip White balanced rotating assembly or a Ohio Crankshaft balanced rotating assembly? I am looking a for about 600hp out of this build so a forged crank is a must.

Re: Skip white vs Ohio Crankshaft

I had Nyes Racing engines build my engine ad it has lived a very exciting and successful life these past three years. I am NOT easy on the car.
https://nyesracingengines.com/small-...y-short-block/
the will build short blocks AND you can buy parts from them if needed too

Re: Skip white vs Ohio Crankshaft

Skip's Business is an Automotive Machine-Shop of sometimes questionable Quality.

Ohio Crankshaft is a Business with Products that range from "Dirt Cheap" to stuff that will cost a Fortune.

Between the two, I personally would purchase from Ohio Crankshaft...
However, I do not believe that the differences will be much, if you are just shopping for a Budget "Off of the Shelf" Crankshaft.

Good luck, and have fun!

Not really looking for off the "shelf build". The motor already has a 400 turned cast crank with 5.7 rod and a set of hypereutectic piston.

This is why i asked. Looks like I am gonna be calling Ohio Crank a call.

That is absolutely the Modern equivalent of an "off of the Shelf" Build for a Gen-I SBC.

CNC motorsports is who I went with. Mine wasn't balanced because my machinist does it. Most machinist laugh at the "balance" these kits come in so be aware.

Re: Skip white vs Ohio Crankshaft

I second that!

Once you have all of your Components...
Pay to at the very least have all components (with a 50% Bob-weight Rule) Balanced within 0.50 Grams, if not 0.10 Grams...
and a Total Balance within 2.00 Grams or less.

Re: Skip white vs Ohio Crankshaft

I have looked into cnc motosports before. I just gotta call my local machine shop and see if he can balance a rotating assembly.

Re: Skip white vs Ohio Crankshaft

Ask about having it done "In House"...

Many Machine Shops will Sub-Contract for Balancing, NOT tell you, then double the Price!

Definitely gotta be in house. If the local shop is gonna ship it out then i will pay the price for a shop online to do it.
