Re: 85 z28 350small block swap

you can remove the E-pump and replace with a length of gas-proof hose and a suitable strainer -just make sure it can pick up the lowest gas in the tank Presuming this was originally TPI,but certain carb cars '84-85 and all carb 86-87 had a low pressure helper pump in the tank-if it is that pump, you can leave it un powered and draw fuel through it since it is a turbine pump without a check valve.

How can I tell the difference between the turbine pump and the regular pump with check valve?

Do you even know that it has an electric pump? Most of the carb cars didn't.

I think with the 84 you'd be safe just pulling through the stock in tank pump, if there's one back there.
