85 z28 350small block swap
I swapped in a 350 with a mechanical fuel pump I want to stay mechanical what all do I need to do with the tank sending unit what to do with old fuel pump I’m reading that you run a hose with strainer to run the mechanical? I’m lost any advice would help I appreciate it guys I really do

you can remove the E-pump and replace with a length of gas-proof hose and a suitable strainer -just make sure it can pick up the lowest gas in the tank
Presuming this was originally TPI,but certain carb cars '84-85 and all carb 86-87 had a low pressure helper pump in the tank-if it is that pump,you can leave it un powered and draw fuel through it since it is a turbine pump without a check valve.
